___________________________________________ the first day of anything was always so stressful. especially when it came to a highly paid job that you couldn't really fuck up on. a personal assistant was very different from being a secretary but she knew she was up to it and apparently so did her boss. either that or he hired her for her looks. either way she wasn't complaining. the only one that seemed to be a bit miffed was her boyfriend, manny and that was quite evident by the way he approached her last night; pulling her by her hair to the bedroom while he yelled at her before manhandling her and giving her a few bruises. her first day was only made more stressful by the fact that she had to find clothing to cover up most of the marks that he had left. in the end she settled for a tight fitting red turtleneck sweater and a pair of wide leg black slacks that was finished off by a pair of stiletto heeled black leather boots. pretty simple, yet classy, only made better by a pair of black rimmed glasses that made her look a bit more sophisticated. once her outfit was pretty much picked out and put on she went and added loose curls to her hair before throwing her black leather purse over her shoulder and bounding out of her house.
she eventually arrived at the studio about fifteen minutes early. her nerves were driving her crazy and she stopped outside for a quick smoke before taking a deep breath and walking into the lobby. she caught a few quick glances from some guys but no body looked too surprised to see her. obviously the fact that the owner canned his last assistant was a well known fact. once she reached the front desk she grabbed her id badge and grabbed her boss's mail before heading towards the offices. this place was so much prettier than her last job and it was actually quite exciting to walk through fall from a star as an employee. she couldn't wait to meet everyone.
victoria finally made it to the offices with about five minutes to spare so she settled herself in a bit, took note of the items on her desk and placed her purse under the desk before getting up and taking the mail into the owner. of course it wasn't a drop off and go type of situation as he had to ask her to sit down. they had a little chat about her job and what was expected of her along with where she could find his planner and the meetings that were set up for today. he also informed her that he was leaving early for personal reasons and then he welcomed her to fall from a star. she walked out of his office with a smile, feeling very positive about this job, and then settled herself down at her desk. she was just about to click into her email to check her to-do list when she heard heavy footfalls coming towards her. lifting her head, her brown eyes rested on a rather tall gentleman that was headed her way. just the way he looked hinted at the fact that he was in a band and she quickly checked her boss's schedule but there was no meeting set up at that particular time for anyone. she turned her attention back on him and gave him one of her charming smiles. "can i help you sir?" she asked a bit shyly and hoped that he realized she was new and wouldn't think she was just being ignorant.

___________________________________________ tossing his guitar onto the couch next to him, brogan raised his hands up and ran them through his hair. he was tired and it was evident by the circles under his eyes. he had a lot on his plate and he was dealing with it all the best that he could. the studio was vacant today, so he took the opportunity to come in and record a couple of things that he had written on his own. they were nothing special, just a couple of songs for his son and whatnot. things had been pretty hard for brogan ever since jess left him. it was almost like a piece of him was missing and it was never coming back. that was something he had accepted, but regardless of what everyone around him said, he couldn't help but think about her from time to time. she had a new life and a new husband and he was well aware. jessica never wanted him and he knew that. though, through everything, she gave him the greatest gift she probably ever could have given him; jacoby. the boy was five now and he and brogan were extremely close. it turned out like he always thought it would; brogan was the over protective, immature father that was perfect for the boy. grinning a little bit as he sat there with his hands together in his lap, he pushed himself up from the couch and over to the refrigerator was conveniently located in the studio. pulling out a bottle of water, he unscrewed the cap and took a drink.
tossing the bottle onto the couch as well, brogan scratched his head a couple of times before venturing out of the studio. there wasn't a whole lot of people there for some reason, but rumor had it that the bosses new assistant was starting today. you see, the boss was picky when it came to his assistants. in a sense, he was shallow. he only had the prettiest of the girls that applied for the job and yet at the same time, he was very big on skill. so naturally, he had to have the best. it was always entertaining to see the girls that he hired for his personal assistant and each and every time, it interested brogan to no end. so, he figured he'd go introduce himself.. or something. he could be social every once in awhile. today just happened to be one of those days.
shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans, he made his way down the hallway towards the assistant's office. honestly, he didn't know what to expect. he knew the girl was gorgeous even before walking into the office, but the minute he looked at her "gorgeous" didn't even exist in the dictionary. this girl was beyond words and for a minute he forgot that he was supposed to talk when she asked him her question. uh, yeah. i heard today was your first day and i figured you hadn't met anyone yet. i'm brogan. it's nice to meet you he said stretching out his hand for her to shake. he had only seen the girl for a total of fifteen seconds and yet, he managed to already sound like an idiot. brogan was a special guy. he looked like a complete and total badass and yes, he could be, but more often than not, he wasn't. out of all the guys he knew, brogan was the most gentle. he appreciated women and all they stood for. he didn't go around looking for fights he could get into and he didn't drink himself retarded every single night. how are you liking the job so far? conversation was the key and he decided to take the cliche "how are you" approach. he was classy, oh yes.

___________________________________________ it was amusing to her how looking at someone made you automatically put them into this category. but then some of those people destroyed the stereotype you put them in as soon as they opened their mouths. this gentleman was one of those type of people. he wasn't bad looking at all. victoria actually found him to be quite adorable despite the fact that he wasn't the type of guy she was used to seeing. but upon first inspection she figured he would be one of those chilled back guys that just kind of ignored the world and expected everyone to come to them. a horrible assessment, she knew but that was usually what she did upon seeing people. not that she let some of those preconceived notions stick in her head. it was just fun to see how accurate she got and apparently with this one she was entirely out in left field, not even close to striking zone.
victoria couldn't help but smile at him as she reached a hand out to shake his. "victoria," she said simply, grasping his hand for a few moments before letting hers drop back onto her desk. "i guess word really does get around this place, huh? i guess i have to be a bit aware of that for the future. but yes, you are right. you're the first person that i met besides him," she replied, throwing a pointing finger behind her at the owner's door. victoria only hoped that her new boss was a little bit more lenient when it came to talking on the job. after all, if he was strict and he came out now to see her talking to brogan instead of doing her job she could only imagine the trouble she could be in. throwing a quick glance over her shoulder to make sure he wasn't coming, she finally turned back to him, the smile still apparent on her face. "gotta make sure you don't get me in trouble," she joked before continuing, "it's nice to meet you too, brogan. brogan... i like your name. it has a nice sound to it. different." victoria sat there for a moment, repeating his name in her head a couple more times and noticed how each time it sounded better. odd.
realizing that she probably looked like a retard, she returned back to earth and motioned at a chair. "bring it over and sit." while he went to go get the chair she went ahead and logged into her email, automatically clicking into the message that was her "to-do list". she scanned it quickly and was happy to see that most of what she had to do was easy and was pretty much contained within the building. she imagined that it would get harder and more tedious but she was grateful that he was taking it easy on her today. "i like it so far. everyone seems to be pretty chill. it's way different than what i am used to but i'm excited for the challenge. what do you do? i'm guessing band member... guitarist... maybe drummer. and you probably do some vocals but not a lot," she murmured hesitantly, narrowing her eyes a bit as she took him all in, before letting her facial features melt into her typical welcoming smile; and expression that she rarely got to wear when she was at home.

___________________________________________ brogan was your typical, average, everyday band member. he was covered in tattoos and he had facial piercings. if it weren't for the fact that he was actually somewhat musically talented, he probably wouldn't have a job. that wasn't saying that he wasn't a hard worker, because really, he was. it was simply that the old saying 'appearances are everything' was absolutely correct. however, brogan didn't generally judge people upon meeting them strictly by their appearance. yes, he was shallow most of the time, but he didn't judge people right away. that just wasn't the kind of guy he was. he waited until after he knew the person to judge them accordingly. upon shaking the girl's hand, he grinned. the girl was absolutely beautiful, though of course, it didn't surprise him in the slightest. the boss knew how to pick and choose his assistants and it was actually something he was known for. victoria is a beautiful name he mused upon hearing her name. when it was said, he replayed it a couple of times in his head before locking it away somewhere in his memory bank. it was, indeed, a beautiful name. it was only fitting considering she was a beautiful girl. i guess word really does get around this place, huh? i guess i have to be a bit aware of that for the future. but yes, you are right. you're the first person that i met besides him. brogan couldn't help but laugh a little. she was in for a surprise when she met the rest of the staff and the bands.
following her gaze to the bosses door, he grinned again. generally brogan didn't smile that much. he was more of a grinner and a smirker rather than an all out smiles kind of guy. it was cute the way that she was prioritizing things. him? no. i've got a permanent 'get out of jail free' card when it comes to him. as long as you're talking to me, you're safe. really, it's all in the tactic i use. when he comes out, we'll talk about setting up an appointment or something really, brogan wasn't as loved as me made himself sound. yes, the boss liked him and brogan was capable of making him laugh and whatnot, but that was really the extent of it. he was nothing special and he knew that. it was all just a matter of convincing himself otherwise. nodding his head, he thanked victoria as she complimented his name. she was right; his name was different, but that's what he liked about it. not a lot of people had it and he liked being the outcast.
bring it over and sit he heard her say and without hesitation, brogan did was he was told. generally, he was good with following orders. well, as long as they were given by people he liked. otherwise, brogan had a serious issue with authority. his criminal record was perfect evidence of that. i like it so far. everyone seems to be pretty chill. it's way different than what i am used to but i'm excited for the challenge. what do you do? i'm guessing band member... guitarist... maybe drummer. and you probably do some vocals but not a lot raising his brow a little, he couldn't help but smile. victoria was good; better than most of the people that typically stereotyped him. you're absolutely right. i'm the lead guitarist for twisted aggression. i sing every now and then, but it's all lukas, really. the boy can belt it out when he wants to he couldn't help but notice victoria's smile. there was warmth to it. it was something he hadn't felt in awhile. it was strange, she had a way of lighting up a room with her smile. though, he did what he was good at, he tried to ignore it. girls were just girls and they were all the same. well, i'm sure you'll have a wonderful time here. we're all pretty chill. i think you'll like it.

___________________________________________ victoria is a beautiful name. she automatically dropped her eyes to her feet to hide the slight blush that rose in her cheeks. after a few moments she back up straight again and grabbed her slightly curled long black hair and threw it over one shoulder. it was horrible to say but victoria didn't get many compliments growing up or even now. she knew she wasn't a bad looking girl but her past and the way things were going with manny only made her self conscious. it was even rarer to get compliments from a guy that seemed pretty genuinely nice who didn't have any alternative motives behind his words. she didn't want brogan thinking she was this shy girl because she really wasn't, not when she got to know someone and she would have rather not had to explain why she had blushed over something so stupid. "thank you," she finally muttered and began to nibble on the inside of her lip only to answer his slight chuckle with one of her own. she knew what he was thinking and she was honestly nervous to meet more people. after all, not everyone was going to be as nice as he seemed to be.
him? no. i've got a permanent 'get out of jail free' card when it comes to him. as long as you're talking to me, you're safe. really, it's all in the tactic i use. when he comes out, we'll talk about setting up an appointment or something. victoria skeptically raised an eyebrow at his statement. it seemed too good to be true. no matter how much the boss liked him she was sure that he would be a little pissed that her assignments for him weren't getting done. yet, brogan did have a tactic that she had already planned on using since it was one that she had used before at her previous job. she was sure that somehow she could get away with a bit more than what brogan could get away with. she had the goods and she knew how to use them, brogan on the other hand did not. "so really you don't have a foot in the door with him. not if you have to go about coming up with a sly plan to make it look like we weren't holding a conversation," she pointed out and gave him a smile, lightly shaking her head at him. it was cute though at how he was trying to impress her even if it was with the smallest things. he made her feel like not every guy was as horrible as the one she was currently stuck with. but who the hell was she trying to kid? she would never get rid of him unless she had a few of her friends take him out for her. although the thought of them not succeeding bothered her the most. she didn't want any of her boys to get hurt and she didn't want to imagine what the hell manny would do if he got his hands on her.
she pushed those terrifying thoughts from her mind, silently promising herself to not think of it again today... especially not while brogan was sitting next to her. "lukas... lukas... hmmm. i know that name. lives in south central right? yea, i never met him but i heard of the guy... and your band. my friends all pretty much go hard for you guys. i just never got around to listening to you," she replied with an apologetic look. now she felt bad. it was obvious that it would take some more time for her to get acquainted with the roster and the music they all played but her main goal now was to check twisted aggression out. if her friends liked them then they had to be good. "oh no doubt. i think i will love it here but i don't think everyone will end up being as welcoming and as nice as you have been." and now she was flirting. she hated how sometimes that just happened, it was annoying as hell and got her into trouble plenty of times throughout her life. at least she was being honest.

___________________________________________ brogan watched as the girl dropped her head and looked at her feet after he complimented her on her name. it was pretty obvious as to what she was doing only because he used to do it also. blushes we hard to conceal and he was never one who was talented at hiding them, so he gave it up and just blushed in front of people when it happened. lukas made sure he blushed at least once a day whether it was compliment form or whether it was in the embarrassing form. it was nice to know that he was still capable of making a woman blush. he couldn't help but grin as she did. it was adorable and he liked it. quite a bit. it was strange, when he was younger, all it would take was a smile of some sort and brogan would dish out compliments left and right. ever since jess left, he stopped complimenting people unless he absolutely meant them. so, basically, everybody other than jess wasn't worthy of praise and compliments; until victoria. it was odd. all brogan wanted to do was compliment her. in a way, he felt seventeen again in the sense that he was somewhat shy and socially awkward. it was familiar and in ways, he hoped he never had to feel that way again, but at the same time, he welcomed it.
so really you don't have a foot in the door with him. not if you have to go about coming up with a sly plan to make it look like we weren't holding a conversation she said and he couldn't help but smile. a real smile, not one of his famous grins or fake smiles. she had called him out and he was caught. no, no i don't. but he likes me enough to not say anything if he were to come out. the boss likes donuts and i rather enjoyed bringing him donuts when i first started working here he said with an accomplished nod. it wasn't so much as kissing ass as it was using your resources. brogan knew the ways he needed to go in order to be liked and respected. donuts just seemed to be the way that worked the best when it came to the big man behind the door. okay, so it was kissing ass, but he didn't really care about what other people thought of his actions. he'd gotten some pretty amazing things from the boss and even better, he had gotten out of a lot of things as well.
lukas... lukas... hmmm. i know that name. lives in south central right? yea, i never met him but i heard of the guy... and your band. my friends all pretty much go hard for you guys. i just never got around to listening to you she admitted and he couldn't help but laugh a little bit. generally, their type of music wasn't the type that girls like victoria listen to, so that was perfectly acceptable. nodding his head to show that was reasonable, he listened as she continued talking. oh no doubt. i think i will love it here but i don't think everyone will end up being as welcoming and as nice as you have been smiling again, he leaned back in his chair and shook his head. nope. you have to learn off that bat who you can come to and who you should stay away from. i'm the guy you want to meet straight off the bat. i can show you around and introduce you to the good guys he said with yet another accomplished nod. brogan knew his way around fall from a star better than anyone. he knew who to make nice with and who to stay away from. skills like his would easily come in handy in the future.

___________________________________________ the last time victoria had ever been this shy in front of anyone was when she first met emanuel and he asked her out on a date. that night was such a horror story filled with her laughing nervously at everything and she was almost positive that he wouldn't ever call her back. but he did. and now she was here, currently stuck with his abusive ass until he got tired of her and found someone else. victoria's worries though were what if he never found someone else? what if he never got tired of victoria? she had already made arrangements in her head but she didn't want to go that route. she didn't want to hurt the guy even after all of the shit he did to her but really she would have had no options. then again, what if brogan found out about this or even her boss? what the hell would they think of her if she basically got someone to kill him? no, it was something that no one would ever have to know about. she had kept a lot of secrets from people her entire life. this was no different. new people didn't mean she automatically had to change her life around for them and yet, brogan had this aura about him that made her want to be honest with him. it was really frustrating.
she looked over and noticed his charming smile, making her smile in return. hating to admit it, she actually really liked him so far. he was one of the first guys that she came across that just seemed so genuine and down to earth and for once she was smiling... actually smiling. that had to account for something. "donuts? so that is the trick? hmmm... he looks a bit harder to win over. you better not be pulling my leg, brogan," she warned. and victoria began sizing him up again in her head. so... he was kind of the guy that wanted to get on everyone's good side. a little rough around the edges but an overall teddy bear, if you will. it just seemed so impossible that a guy like him could exist. insanely cute, tattooed, had a weird sex appeal to him that was almost alluring... and he was nice. it just didn't make sense to her. although, she wasn't about to sit here and make her doubt the one good thing that today had brought her so far. victoria refused to be a pessimist.
then she heard him laugh and she quickly snapped her attention back onto him, laughing with him before teasingly narrowing her eyes at him. "what?" she asked a bit defensively. "what are you laughing at? i like music. i used to go to a few shows but i haven't had the time recently. i'm sure i will like you guys... i'm not a fan of the fluff rock shit anyways," she informed him and then gave a shrug. victoria was a tad bit different compared to most girls. she never really had a female figure in her life since her mother died when she was young and she chilled with a lot of guys. so of course she became accustomed to guy related things like harder music, cars to an extent (her father was a mechanic), and sports. brogan really had no idea what he was getting himself into. "good guys are always good to have on your side but the bad guys provide the entertainment. it's fun to argue with them and be a bitch to them. i will eventually meet everyone and then we shall sit down and discuss who are the nice ones and who aren't. i'm sure we will have some conflicting views." victoria knew who the bad guys were, she wasn't fucking stupid but the fact that she could pretty much find good things in everyone made that person a little less evil in her mind. it also fucked her up in the way that it didn't allow her to stay mad at one person too long. she really didn't have a backbone when it came to certain people and she was currently trying to work on that. that was one thing she honestly hated about herself. she still held love for those that did her wrong.
